Rockfish River Rumble
This is the inaugural Rockfish River Rumble, a new gravel race in Albemarle and Nelson counties south of Charlottesville, VA, and is organized by the Charlottesville Racing Club to fundraise for the club’s youth mountain bike team in collaboration with the host; Wood Ridge Farm Brewery.
The event consists of two routes through rarely ridden gravel and paved roads, including access to private roads by special permission of property owners. There will be a long course (about 65-70 miles) and a short course (about 30-40 miles) in our inaugural event. The exact course design is still being developed, but will be finalized by the summer. The routes route features more than 50% gravel and gravel bikes are recommended, and tires with a minimum 36mm width. There will be one aid station on the short course and two or three on the long course, positioned roughly 15-20 miles apart.
This is a challenging, yet beautiful course, with a cash purse for the men’s, women’s, and nonbinary open categories in the long and short race.
