Dirty Gretna 250k

Superb gravel greatness in the heart of rural Virginia tobacco country at the height of tobacco season! For FREE! This 250k (157 miles) ride can easily be broken into half or shortened to your personal liking. The counterclockwise western 85 mile loop will start at 6:30 am and the clockwise eastern 73 mile loop will start at approximately 1:00 pm. The full ride is 47% gravel. The afternoon loop has slightly more gravel and less elevation. This google map (https://tinyurl.com/dirtygretna250k) will reveal gravel sections (yellow), places to restock, and hotel/camping opportunities. Gaps between gas stations/restaurants are 35.3 miles, 11.2, 21.9, 15.1, 1.3 (back at car), 8.6, 7, 21.9, 22.7, and 12.7.

This is a self supported, not marked, informal fun group ride. Everyone is expected to be able to navigate the course on their own should they end up riding alone. Lights, extra battery pack or paper map is suggested if doing the full pull.

As with most VES rides we will all look after each other but there is no express obligation of VES organizers to monitor participants whereabouts and safety. Have someone who you can check-in with or buddy you plan to ride with. Know your limits and capabilities and adjust your route accordingly. VES contact for this is Paul Workman and cell is 540-797-3731.
