The Best Southwest Tour

During this four-day journey, we will ride in several places in Southwestern Virginia. This tour features:

Burke’s Garden, The New River Trail, The Huckleberry Trail & sort but steep hike up Bald Knob as well as a visit to the iconic Mountain Lodge featured in the 80’s movie, Dirty Dancing.

Burke’s Garden one of the lesser known spots in Southwestern Virginia but one of my personal favorites. It’s located in Tazewell, VA and is the highest valley in the state of Virginia. Sitting at 3700 feet above sea level, the temperature is perfect in the summer when it’s really hot everywhere else.

The New River Trail which is a flat, packed gravel trail that features several bridge crossings, wildlife sightings and tunnels.

If you would like to get off your bike for a bit, we will offer an (optional) short but steep hike on Bald Knob which offers panoramic views into the valley below as well as mountains in the distance. If you choose not to hike, you can tour the nearby Mountain Lake Lodge, one of the locations where Dirty Dancing was filmed in 1987 starring Patrick Swayze & Jennifer Grey. From there, we head back towards Roanoke stopping to ride the Huckleberry Trail that runs between Christiansburg and Blacksburg VA. The Huckleberry is paved and lightly travelled in the summer and there are several detours off the path that will take you past some beautiful scenery.
