Stokesville Strade – Gravel Grinder
Strade Bianche is a Italian gravel road race held in the region of Tuscany, Italy. This event is famous for its rough roads and cobble stone streets. Thus the Stokesville Strade has been born! The Stokesville Strade is a premier gravel road grinder. Routes will showcase a great variety of gravel, dirt and pavement. With rolling Shenandoah Valley roads this is a great early season event. After the event riders can relax with some Italian theme goodies provided by Shenandoah Mountain Touring down at the Stokesville Lodge. If you have a favorite Italian dish please bring some to share!
The route will take riders on a scenic 32 mile journey past historical landmarks and by majestic Shenandoah Valley farms rich in Civil War history. Ride options are 50K (1 lap) or 100K (2 laps). The Aid Station at the half way point on Kyles Mill is like an oasis on a scenic knoll after a fun downhill into a tranquil one lane bridge over Mossy Creek. The station will feature snacks and fluids to get you the rest of the way around the route as well as a pump, tubes and tires to get you back rolling again. Make sure you don’t pass mile 16 without filling up. The route definitely climbs more in earnest on the return to Stokesville.
