Ride 20K for the Greenway – Beginners & Family Ride
This event celebrates one of Roanoke’s greatest assets, the region’s fabulous greenway system, while also encouraging folks of all ages and abilities to get back in the saddle. The 20K is a 12 mile ride –which is a great goal for beginners, kids, families, folks getting back in the saddle, or anyone who wants to support Roanoke’s greenways.
The ride will start and end at Cardinal Bicycle & Café in Grandin Village and finish with food and drink. The route will be an out and back along the greenway with an aid station at the turnaround point at mile 6. The event is $30 and includes an après ride beer or non-alcoholic drink, the net proceeds from the ride will go to Pathfinders for Greenways and Pedal Safe Roanoke. Kids 13 and under are $15. T-shirts are available for purchase for $15 with your registration. If you would just like a t-shirt, you can purchase one for $25. We will have a rolling start time, with the first waves starting at 9am.
Join Cardinal Bicycles for free weekly rides and one-on-one support to get you ready to complete the full 20K ride. As part of the training group, you will receive
- Weekly coached rides with experienced ride leaders
- Entry to the 20K for the Greenway event
- A safe and fun environment to build your fitness, skills, and knowledge with like-minded riders
Weekly rides will occur each Wednesday, beginning May 17 at 6 p.m. and start at Cardinal Bicycle in Grandin Village.
