Pedal the Parkway – Great Family Friendly Ride!

In celebration of National Parks Week, from Friday, May 5th at 7:00 am to Sunday, May 7th at 8:00 pm, the National Park Service with help from Bike/Walk Williamsburg will close 8 miles of the Colonial Parkway to vehicular traffic for the 25th annual Pedal the Parkway.  Eight miles of the Parkway will be closed to vehicular traffic between Jamestown Settlement to Newport Avenue in Williamsburg, allowing open access for all cyclists and pedestrians to enjoy the road together.

As always this event is non-competitive, so start when you like.  This event is suitable for all ages and abilities and is a great ride to introduce young family members to the joys of road cycling.

There will be a rest stop with bathroom accommodations at Archer’s Hope.  Visitors may use the indoor restrooms at the Jamestown Island Visitor Center from 9 am to 5 pm daily. Free parking is available at the Jamestown Settlement, 2110 Jamestown Road and at the National Park Service Visitor Center on Jamestown Island.

The event is free and held rain or shine. All participants should socially distance outside of their pandemic pod and cyclists should wear helmets.
