Conquer the Canal Time Trial
A USA Cycling permitted event – Conquer the Canal Time Trial is a Virginia BAR event and a 12 mile out and back individual time trail. Come out to the Dismal Swamp Canal, It is the oldest continually operating man-made canal in the United States, originally built in the early 1790s. It is part of the Intracoastal Waterway and hosts pleasure boaters navigating their way between the Chesapeake Bay and the Albemarle Sound.
The course is a 12 mile out-and-back individual time trial. Youth riders will race six miles. No warming up on the course. The best option for warm-up is to bring a stationary trainer. There is a 180 rider limit for this event. The park will open to all users at 12:00.
The Team Time Trial will be a 4 or 5 person Merckx category event. Finishing times will be recorded when the 4th rider of each team crosses the line. Teams may consist of men, women, and juniors, including any mix of Cat 1-4. The TTT will be the final event of the day so it won’t hurt individual times or affect BAR standings.
