Climb to Conquer Cancer
Join us at Richmond’s Libby Hill as we Climb to Conquer Cancer and relive the excitement we all felt during the UCI World Championships in 2015! All routes take an easy tour around the beautiful historic Church Hill neighborhood before ascending the well-known Libby Hill cobble climb where the pros raced. After the first Libby Hill ascent, you have the option of either a 26, 44, or 63 mile routes through the scenic and flat countryside that surround Richmond. All cyclists return for their second climb up the hill for their chance to win the polka dot jersey, for the fastest climbers.
Consider a VIP ticket, which entitles you to a hot breakfast, lunch, and an open bar, for only $20 extra! Thanks to sponsors, this money goes to cancer research, so consider it a donation. In any event, stay for our unique awards ceremony.
Cyclists in Service: If you are active duty military, a veteran, or a first responder (police officer, firefighter, paramedic, etc.), you may wish to compete in our new “Cyclists in Service” division. Cyclists in Service will compete not only for age-group awards like everyone else, but also compete for a special polka dot jersey of your own! Also, we will recognize the Cyclist in Service group that fundraises the most! If your group already has a team captain, your captain will have a discount code that gives you FREE VIP registration. Elite Racing Teams: If you are a member of an elite racing team, please note that we have a separate division of elites who compete for their own polka dot jerseys and also compete to see which elite team can fundraise the most. E-Bike Challenge: New this year, thanks to Pedal Power RVA, we will have a competition among e-bike riders, who must have an e-bike with no more than 500 watts. Unlike other cyclists, who must warm up, you will start at the bottom of the hill for your first climb, do the urban ride, and quickly climb your second time. Compete for a separate polka dot jersey for this division.
